Sup everyone..

After an interesting November of barely any games played and then a short disbanning on the troops, we are back and ready to DO WORK.

We decided that after all that we've been through and as high as we got in Division 1 (12th Overall at one time) we shouldn't just throw it away because a few players dont play anymore or others left for other teams or whatever the reason.

SO.. In the true spirit of Pittsburgh sports.. we are starting the fight to see just how far up the rankings we can climb over this next month.

At the time I am writing this entry.. I believe we are ranked 34th Overall in Division 1. And last I checked, we can easily get into the Top 30 with a few more wins and then hopefully even the Top 20 if we get a fair amount of games in and can go undefeated over the next week or two.

--RECRUITING--

In an attempt to strengthen our squad.. We are considering MAYBE adding a couple new players.

If you feel that you can help us in this effort.. We are looking for a few SOLID goal scorers or STAY AT HOME Defensemen.

If you can bring something else to the table, we are always open for ideas but you will obviously be given a tryout first either way and then there will be certain rules to follow for actual Club games.

If you're interested.. feel free to contact myself (LEGAME58) or Russ (Russ Muffin) and we will try and set up a tryout whenever possible.

And just so we leave the night on a good note.. Here's a little fun ScreenCap from the other night when a few of us were on.. playing OTP with a bunch of d-bags.. (and I loosely quote vaevicts1: "I swear.. all of the other kids on here have to have down syndrome or something the way they play..")

Anyways.. were down 4-3 with seconds left in the game.. Russ Muffin picks up the puck and takes it up the right wing boards into their zone.

Crusty Crayon tries to make a break for the slot to get open for the pass.. but as he was trying to squeeze through the defenders who were locked onto attacking Russ.. one of them hits Crusty and knocks him off balance JUST as Russ makes the cross crease pass to the wide open Crusty.. WHO... does NOT bury it.. but instead.. watches as he slide into the corner along with the puck and our hopes of tying up the game.

Luckily this was not a club match or some heads would have been rolling.

Again.. Lets make this march into the Top 20 happen and regain some respect amongst the ranks!

Well Jay Harris (ALLDAY 72) decided to pay up a little visit for the weekend. He flew up from all the way from Dallas, TX to take in a Steelers game on Thursday and a Pens game on Saturday.

Since the patch that fixed the curve shot came out. We have been killing the teams that used to exploit that SHIT! All the teams in the top 20 are fucking crying their eyes out because they cannot actually play real hockey.

Kevonic622 (Your Worst Teammate) buries one from a pinpoint pass from me. Giving us the 4-2 with less than a min left in the game. Crusty Crayon (A. Ginger Kid) and Orange oo1 (Jay Harris Allday) had the offense on lock down all game.

Then....

Untouchables aka. Pussies that quit 5 min into the game.

This team is ranked in the top 5. They Fucking suck. Kevonic and I get a really quick goal on our first drive to the net. Then the "Untouchables" are able to draw a penalty from me. But wait!!! The goalie starts to leave the net and the defenseman throws the puck back toward the net. As the puck is about to go into the empty net. The game pauses and their whole team quits. But guess what.... The game doesn't count.... They quit before 5min have passed.

Untouchables = fucking jokes.

We play to win the game.

They quit if it looks like they are not going to win the game.

Don't Worry. I will post more about these jokes when I get off of work..

Last game of the night. We were playing a team that we lost to last week by like 4. This time it was a fucking different story. Me and Kevonic on the Wings, and Crusty and Orange on D.

After Kevonic remembered what the RW "Skat Daddy" did during that loss. We compensated for this game and fucking went head hunting. This so-called "daddy" was always calling for the puck. So Kevonic was just blocking his passing lanes the whole time. If the puck did get past him. I would be back checking/stick lifting his ass. And if he got past me. He ran into a fucking brick wall at our Blueline.

You know it's a good game whenever we only allow 3 shots on goal. Our time on attack was 7 min compared their 59 sec. And our top 2 scorers both get hat tricks. Only halfway through the game.

We are still ranked 15th and it looks like we are going to be in the top 15 for the rest of the season if we keep this up. I think we smell a EASHL Tourney coming up. Ohh how sweet that would be.

This is a sad day in the EASHL.

Well, our baby brother has caught up with us.

What do we do?!?

We all have lives. We can only play so many games a night.

We go to school at Pitt. We work at ESPN. We work at Giant Eagle. We work wherever and we go to school wherever.

But there is a little voice that lives back in our heads. "How are we going to get higher up on the leader boards?"

We need a few good nights in the upcoming weekend that we could get back ahead of the curve. We have been busting our asses trying to get in the top 50 again. But, every time we get back on each night we are just back where we started. I don't know about you guys but I think it is very frustrating.

Is there any idea from my fellow teammates? We need ideas.

Should we add people to the team that we are not to sure about? And hopefully we can get a few more games(wins) in each night.

Or, we can just stick with what we have?

I love it!!! I'm like the President of the United States! The people who support or team for doing good are agreeing with me. Then you got the radical assholes that have been pushed out of the party affiliation. Or, maybe I'm considered Jagr of Team PBP? Everyone loves that I play for the team but they also think I'm an asshole. So they start ripping on me.

I ask other people what they think about the other teammates and then base my decisions off of those. And, every decision has to be ran by dmbforum40 too. So, if you think that I'm the token asshole keep laying it on me... I'm not the only one. If you don't like it go suck off Dani Briere.

We are trying to spread the word of the PensBlog. (By being at the top of the leader boards.) This means not having a bunch of people fucking around. When Team PBP gets on we play to win. We usually do not become GMs and then invite our friend and then play 2 ranked games (and lose)with our friend Nick and lie about it.

BTW The Hockey Season is going to start soon. And maybe this Internet bickering between us tPB readers/bloggers will calm down. This site is is for the fans of the pens. Someone on Team PBP stick lifts the Defenfer and the puck starts heading back to their goal. Kevonic622 (The one who committed the penalty) does work till the end and buries it.

I'm bringing the Gameday thread back, some people are having problems getting games in, some are not(polish), if you don't like it, don't use it.

For those with limited schedules, post the time you'll be on for some team games tonight.

Here's the complete 50 man roster...... make sure to add these guys to your friends list...you can now have 100 friends on the PS3 so it shouldn't be too difficult to fit these guys in.

We are now 140 - 170 ranked 46th in the 1st division.

Thank you tPB, for understanding our frustrations. But all the newcomers that have picked up NHL 09 for the 360 please still sign up for the team. currently due to our sucky ass records we have no clue who is the GM for Team PensBlog team. If anyone could give us a heads up who that is it would be fucking awesome. Well, for an update on Team PBP we are currently 20-6 due getting matched up with top teams with only 4 guys on our team we have fucking lost a little bit.

But....

We are officially up in division 1. Taking it by storm. We played a game agianst FB (First Ballot) which is currently the #1 team now. We only lost the game by 1. If we had a 5th man it would would of been a different outcome.

Technically...
we will never be able to catch up to those guys on the top of the leaderboard.

Why?!?

Because we actually have lives. We do not sit at home all day and play NHL 09 all day after collecting Welfare or suing your former employer for not allowing you to take off the day the game came out.

Here is a walk though of a day in his "life"

Wakes up at noon.
Eats his Captain Crunch cereal.
Goes on to Facebook and emails all of those girls that are flocking him for being #1 at NHL 09
Sorts all of his message of all the people that sent him hate mail on Facebook.
Turn on his Xbox 360.
Plays NHL 09 for 12 hours straight.
Asks his mom to make his favorite food. Tater-tots and hot-dogs that are cut up into little pieces.
He then asks her to tuck him into bed and tell him a bed time story.
Then the same thing over and over again.

You know no-one has never seen a picture of this prick? But, with some of my secret hacking skills and computer savvy tecniques. I have been able the put a virtual spy cam in his new iMac. Here is the first physical picture of this NHL Beast!

Here's what the game captures, if you look at your Performance Tracker. Pretty sweet amount of detail. I was able to quickly check my numbers this morning and it really helps to see what i need to work on, and what i've been doing well.

To the stats:

The good: 1.12 points per game, about 1 penalty every 2 games with 9.4 hits per game, almost 55% faceoffs won, 5 good shots taken per game.

The bad: only 20 blocked shots, 12-13 record, plus/minus of -6

The ugly: a roethlisburgerian (i know he has no interceptions yet) 9.56 turnovers per game. This will definitely be worked on and improved. It's the reason why i'm getting a C+ in Team play and lowering my overall skater grade to a B-.

Take a look at your performance tracker, let us know how you're doing. Maybe we can highlight one or two players per day and break down their stats. For future stat posting purposes, we'll probably want to show the top 5 in goals, assists, points, PIM, +/-. If anyone would like to volunteer to gather this info, it would be most appreciated.

To describe yesterday's games as enjoyable would be a huge mistake..

Personally i played like crap, couldn't win a faceoff, couldn't muster off a pass before getting leveled...it was an utter mess. To that end, i have to say, we need to start playing a more fun style of hockey. All we seemed to do yesterday was pass the puck once, take a crappy shot from the wing and with all players out of position, haul back as the other team was on a 3 on 0 break. It was a predictable mess and none of that was fun, at all. That's it i'm selling my PS3 to get an XBOX and join the ECHL level pensblog team. Can I be GM? EDIT: Sarcasm alert, threat level midnight.

So some of you have played, some of you have not, either way, there's still a lot of questions. So here is a little FAQ thrown together for all the PS3 players out there.

First and foremost - get a headset. You can use a bluetooth one if you have one, if not, look on eBay, search the interwebs, you can purchase wired ones pretty cheap. The communication helps immensley in games, and not only that, it's fun to chat with some of you crazy bastards during games. If you don't get a headset, well......

Ok, now for the guts of how to do this.

You must be invited into the group by a GM. You cannot get into a game any other way. Go to online play, then into the EA Sports Hockey League. From there, go into the Dressing Room, and just wait for people there. It's pretty easy actually. Even someone who rides the shortbus could figure it out.

Once a game is launched, you get to pick your position. It's an orgy of violence once you get to the screen where you can pick your position, so it is best to figure out who is playing where in the lobby.

Keep track of your player. After you play so much, you get to add to your attributes. This only makes your player better. If you didn't know that part, you probably were a character in The Goonies

Now the tricky part during game play is to play your actual position and not chase. Here are some links that may or may not help.

Lastly, we're in this for fun. It doesn't matter if we win 3-1, lose 12-1 (and start to do circle drills), job the whole game, whatever. I think we are all in agreement that there will be no pro team or any of that. Play and have fun, hopefully we get better and don't suck, but it's all about fun. Afterall, just like how that 12-1 game was like a funeral, you can't spell funeral without the word "FUN"

Our record isn't that good. Our posts are less frequent and our language on said posts are much cleaner. As you can tell i'm not much of a contributor here on the weekends, so sue me (actually don't sue me, that's the opposite of what I want.) What are everyone's thoughts on the season so far? What are things we still need to work on? Should we start taking this more seriously like a certain other Pensblog team that will remain nameless that plays on a different system? Let's be honest we're a team made up of great and not-so-great players and because of this we will always be mediocre in our rankings.

Personally, i'm not too worried about our team record...i'm just trying to have fun (which for me mandates that I win in order to have fun)

How do people feel about their skater grades? Do you think it accurately sums up your play so far...personally i keep flipping between B and B+. Oh don't ask me about my goalie experience...it was not fun. I was consistent at least, 4 goals let in per period... I figured i may as well give it a go...and now i know what i shouldn't do anymore. Pittsmo, Kevbo, Polish, Crayz/Jaos..and i had a nice little run going Saturday night...I played D in those games and really enjoyed it, so i may be flipping back and forth between that and C depending who's in the games i play.

Last night was just the beginning. In the first night of existence, Team PBP took the ice and Jobbed their opponents all over the ice.

First 5 games played 5 games won.

Heart Breaking loss in OT and then another blow out by the PensBolg Pros.

And then DMBForum40 finally came in the room to join us making it a 6 man room. While we were chating away in the pregame lobby we noticed that we were playing Air Force One. (The #1 Ranked Team in NHL09) Holy Shit this is the game we have been waiting for. We get off to a quick 1-0 lead after Kevonic622 wraps it around the back of the net top right shelf. After that AFO put on a Jenna Jameson clinic. Stick Lifting us the rest of the game. We eventually lose the game 4-1 but.. you have to keep in mind that we had a user controlled goalie and that tonight was the first night the TPBP was in existence. Just imagine the possibilities.

I'm throwing an idea out there. How bout we make another team full legit players. It would consist of all the top players of the Pensblog team. Basically it would be the NHL to the AHL. It would be called the Team PensBlog Pros. The reason being is that we are tired of waking up in the morning to find out that all of our hard work is being flush right down the fucking toilet faster than Rico Fata's career. If this idea flies with the other GM's. Team PensBlog will need new GM's for the Original Team PensBlog.

On a MUCH brighter note.. tPB did some MAJOR WORK tonight tearing up some games in the EASHL.. moving up the ranks to get up to a ranking of 24 in Div.1 as of 430amEST

An 8-0 solid shutout.. a 2-0 shutout with 6 human players (yours truly in net pitching the big ZERO) and then another 6 player game with the outcome of 4-2..

Hey Guys, Russ Muffin here. I'm just letting you guys know that there have been some cuts of as lately. We (dmbfourm40 Cjr1688, and I) have been making some cuts. The reason being is that you

A. Complain alot

B. Keep on cheeseing it up by playing with a team and losing 5 times in a row and not doing anything about it to change it.

C. Plain out suck

and

D. Are not a team player and cannot respect you other teammates.

ohh here is another.

E. Don't call for the puck when there is a opposing team player right infront of the fucking goalie.

It is nothing personal we just want what is best for the team. You can work your back onto the team by showing us that you really want to do what is best for the team. Work on you rating by playing ranked random team games.

We were really pissed of to see a 16-16 record whenever we woke up this morning. This is not acceptable.... We worked are asses of last night and to wake up knowing that we had a bunch of scrubs playing together.. Really pisses us off.

The GM's are going to meet later to see if we should do about the the cuts.

Again this is not personal. It's Business. (well.. sort of)

PS3: Team Update

Due to underwhelming response, i'm scrapping the Gameday idea.
The roster i was working with, apparently was missing a lot of people that still have no idea this blog exists. If you see any information that is incorrect, please point it out (ie Jersey #) The roster has been given an overhaul...and as you'll see we have 35 spots locked in. 15 spots open, and so far 21 players to fill those 15 spots. I just got GM privilages last night, so i'll be sending invites to those 21 players...first 15 to respond make the team...it's that simple.

I will definitely be posting stats as soon as i find them for everyone....

Who's got it, who's played it? Not me, anyway i have lots of questions..and i'm sure most of you do as well, so lets talk about it.

From the EA boards.....

Littman said in the video, "You can have your own jerseys". "Own" is open to
interpretation. Shady...nicely done!

Apparenlty you cannot have a custom jersey...you can only use a jersey that is already in the game...so there goes the idea of having the awesome work of Stephen S. blazen across our chest. My guess is we can use any jersey in any of the leagues...so do we just want to use the Penguins...the WBS Penguins...some random KHL team?

Also i've noticed that as of last night at least 15 of you have yet to add me to your friends list...obviously that will have to change if we're going to make this work. I don't think there's any realistic way that we can have our team completely set up by tonight...so maybe we should concentrate on getting as many things ironed out as we can.

1:00 am update.
inside sources that i have tell me that wal mart in robinson HAS the game.
they are not putting it on the shelves until 8:00am.
also my brother who pre-ordered the game from gamestop,
got a call tonight saying the game will be available for pickup tomorrow afternoon
any new information i will update the blog

There are still way too many unanswered questions regarding the EASHL league, I guess we will find out all of the details in the next few days. What I want to discuss here though is the process we should go through to form teams. Every day, we'll have a Gameday post where (you) the players will post when you'll be available that night for a team game. Once we have enough players available, you can start putting together the 6 man team (LW, C, RW, D, D, G) and commit yourselves to a position in order to avoid confusion/frustration. Obviously not eveyone will get to play their preffered position everytime, but if we do this right, we can come to an agreeable solution.

I said we'd have to switch positions Jags, not....nevermind.

Also please remember to add your teammates to your friends list on PS3 if you haven't already. Here's the most up to date roster with Gamertags

Well it's official. Even video game reviewers think NHL 09 is kick ass!

NHL 09 Review

9/10 is not to shabby

Considering that NHL 08 only got a 8.9 from them last year.

I wonder how many times our Cindy Gaysby had to whine to EA to make it better.

We are going to throw a PensBlog custom room together tonight and practice around 10PM. We prefer that you have a mic so that you can hear us whenever we call for the puck, and sh*t like that.

A lot of people say that we are going to kill this EASHL thing. Well, for starters we have to practice together.

Here are some calculations I have come up with to become some of the best players in NHL 09.

7,000 hours of EASHL practice + be traded for Joey Gladstone and a bag of hammers = Ron Francis

3,000 hours of EASHL practice + 1 Subway Sandwich + ending everybody's name on the team with a "y" - overly mentioning Recchi's name after he was traded 1/4 of the way though the season = Bob Errey

8,000 hours of EASHL practice + Makeup + Sarah Palin's News anchor haircut + join Vladimir Putin's team and get way overpaid = Jaromír Jágr

10,000 hours of EASHL practice + Develop Hodgkin's Disease+ Beat Hodgkin's Disease x Save the Pens asses + potty training Cindy for 3 years - time wasted/flights bought to visit KC+ Free dinners = Mario Lemieux

5,000 hours of EASHL practice + Calling Brian Bellows a Pig Fu*ker + getting caught stealing NYR money and blowing it on a hooker and crack = Kevin Stevens (But we still love you)

Like we said,this site will be used for organizing the EASHL teams for PS3 and Xbox 360.

This might be really the only post we really need to organize things, because once the game comes out, EA should take care of the rest.
